Listening Mothers™
So, what
is Listening Mothers all about?
Listening Mothers may be the most important parenting group
you participate in. It is a program for new mothers and
their babies that focuses on helping mothers gain a better
understanding of both themselves and their babies. It
fosters healthy communication and enhances a baby’s early
learning by increasing mothers’ self-awareness.
What you’ll gain
Insight. Recognize that being a mom is hard—it’s common to feel some sadness, be frightened, worried, irritable, and tired.
Clarity. Develop your new identity as a mother and discuss your feelings about this new role. Reflect on your own parenting style and learn about others.
Awareness. Look into your childhood experiences and how they impact your parenting.
Confidence. Learn how to tune into and respond to your baby’s needs. Help your baby feel calm and interested in his/her world.
Knowledge. Talk about how your relationship with your partner affects the and how your baby impacts your relationship.
Understanding. Learn how baby’s primary relationships and experiences set the foundation for early learning.
Trained Group Leaders
Our
highly qualified facilitators are:
Educated. Each facilitator holds a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or in a related field.
Trained. All leaders attend a year-long course on babies’ emotional development as well as training specific to the Listening Mothers curriculum.
Experienced. All facilitators are well-versed in infant emotional development, and attachment issues.
