Postpartum mood disorders can occur any time immediately after birth up to one year postpartum. Women are most at risk to experience emotional difficulties following the birth of a baby than at any other time in their lives. 1 in 5 women experience a Postpartum Mood Disorder.
Left untreated, they can continue and have negative effects on the cognitive, emotional and social development of your baby. However, Postpartum mood disorders are a medical condition that can be treated successfully.
