Transitional Assistance

Transitional Assistance provides case  management and emergency services for homeless families, couples and individuals in King County.

Case Management Services

  • Short term stabilization

  • Counseling

  • Problem solving

  • Money management

  • Advocacy

Emergency Services

  • Motel vouchers

  • Short term stabilization

  • Case management

  • Advocacy

  • Referrals

  • And other financial assistance

Professional assessments and case planning are conducted by master's level social workers.

How to Apply
Applicants must complete an application (with the necessary identifying information) and participate in an assessment with a caseworker. Assessments last for approximately one hour, and all information is confidential.

Once eligible, participants are expected to engage in case planning and goal setting. Financial assistance is available on a limited basis, and is provided only in the context of an overall case plan with an emphasis on linkage to stable housing.

These services are intended to be one-time assistance. Those being served for a second time may be scheduled to see a caseworker to receive information and referral services, but financial assistance might not be provided.

Transitional Assistance can also help homeless people access community resources and services, such as:

  • Housing and Shelter

  • Income through Employment and/or Public Assistance

  • Child Care and Parenting Resources

  • Education and Training Opportunities

  • Medical, Mental Health or Chemical Dependency services

  • Domestic Violence services

  • Subsidized Housing
