Volunteering at Family Services

Volunteers play an important part in the work that we do in the community. If you would like to find out about volunteer opportunities at Family Services, please call us at (206) 826-3050 or send an e-mail to info@family-services.org.

Current Volunteer Opportunities
The following programs have volunteer opportunities available:

Baby Boutique

A clearing house for eleven homeless shelters in Seattle, the Baby Boutique provides free, "gently used" items to eligible homeless families and residents of transitional housing. Items range from disposable diapers, clothing, strollers, car seats, toys, books and school supplies. The Baby Boutique is staffed entirely by volunteers and is located in downtown Seattle.

Two volunteer opportunities exist with the Baby Boutique for groups of volunteers. 1) Volunteer assistance is needed to sort boxes of donated clothing, toys and books and to pick up clothing donations. 2) There is also an ongoing need for diaper donations. Organizing a community-wide diaper drive is an excellent way to accomplish this. Recently, the Baby Boutique was fortunate to receive over 18,000 diapers, donated by a local paper manufacturer.

Other Opportunities

Family Services offers several volunteer opportunities in which individuals, groups or corporations seeking a community project to help homeless children can get involved.

  • Get involved with community outreach and volunteer efforts

  • Volunteer in a Morningsong classroom
