Respectful Parenting Skills for Men and Women

Respectful Parenting Skills for Men and Women is a three-month program designed to help parents learn positive and respectful ways of guiding and disciplining their children. The curriculum teaches skills for listening, communicating, solving problems and setting limits in respectful ways.

Program Goals

  • Broaden definitions of "discipline" beyond punishment or reward;

  • Learn the difference between listening and not listening, and how listening to our children can help them to solve their own problems;

  • Discover ways to support our children's sense of competence and self-worth through encouragement;

  • Learn how to communicate to invite cooperation instead of conflict;

  • Learn the Ten Steps of Problem Solving;

  • Learn the difference between logical consequence and punishment;

  • Respond to anger in our children;

  • Deal with problem behavior; and

  • Understand child development from Infancy to the Teenage years.
